THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

While visiting Grand Coulee Dam, my family and I were surprised to see that the visitors' center was dark. It was a sunny day, so we thought the center might have tinted windows, but as we got closer we realized there were no lights on. We went in and saw that none of the displays were working.

Suddenly it became clear: there was no power to the center. Due to a technical difficulty of some kind, the visitors' center that sat only hundreds of feet from a hydroelectric dam had no power.

How could something be so close to the power source, yet not be "plugged in"?

SCRIPTURE_____________________________________________________

2 Tim 3:1-4
1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

THOUGHT_________________________________________________________

There is no doubt that "perilous times" are here NOW!
As a general whole, mankind can certainly be described by the words in verses 2-4 above.

There are many who make a show of "godliness," giving signs of following doctrine and practice. But, they DENY the "power thereof."

What IS the "power" of truly following Christ?
Where is the STRENGTH of our faith?

It is in the CONNECTION to Him Who is omnipotent - all power!
This computer will not work unless it is connected to the power source.
The car motor will not start unless it is connected to the battery.

"Watch ye therefore, and pray always!!" (Luke 21:36)

Those are two actions of faith which every believer needs to PERSISTENTLY PRACTICE!
WATCH! and PRAY!
Be alert, and stay in contact with God!

This is the ONLY way to counteract laziness, lethargy, apathy, circumstances and situations!

Be careful to note that the day of Christ's appearing COULD come "upon you UNAWARES!"
WATCH! and PRAY!
Be alert, and stay in contact with God!

The strength of our faith is in our CONNECTION to Jesus through PRAYER!

Love ya,
Bruce
