One fella was told by his boss, that the company was behind on production, and he was needed Sunday.
The man said, "Ok." And, he worked that Sunday.
Next week, the boss said, "We're STILL behind."
So the man worked again.
Next week, the boss said, "We're STILL behind."
The man refused to work.
The boss said, "But doesn't your Bible say if the ox falls in the ditch, you should get him out?"
The man said, "Yes. But if the ox KEEPS falling in the ditch, then we must either COVER the ditch, or SELL the ox!"

Mark 7:5-8
5 Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands?
6 He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.

Even today, there are people who, like the “Pharisees and scribes” above, who just wanna find fault with Christians.
However, most have not read the Bible, and don’t know what it says.
Neither have they studied to learn the INTENT of what the Bible says.

There were many laws concerning “washing” in the Old Testament.
See Exodus 19:10, 29:4, 29:17, 30:18, 30:19, 30:20, 30:21, 40:12, 40:30.
But never was there an instance to wash before eating.

These men had so long been steeped in the “tradition of the elders,"
they no longer distinguished it from the truth of God’s Word.

Jesus quickly pointed the men to TRUTH: "..teaching for doctrines the commandments of men."
Jesus even went further and said that by doing so, they were “laying aside the commandment of God...!”

Sometimes tradition can be taught so strongly that soon TRUTH is not really known!
John caught this, and later warned that we should TEST teachers (and preachers)
to see that their teaching was aligned with the TRUTH (SEE 1John 4:1).

Study the Bible.
Be careful that we follow the WORD and not “tradition.”

Love ya,
