Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed
unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder,
which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.
LIGHT from the WORD.
God has treasures, that He gives to those who
diligently study His Word.
Jesus's words above indicated a scribe is one who
is a devoted student of God's Word.
And, the scribe is like the owner of a house.
He finds and stores treasures.
And, then he SHARES them with others!
During the Hellenistic period, the priests had turned their attention
to the paganistic culture and their worship had become corrupted.
But the scribes had continued diligently studying the Word of God
and had become good teachers of the Truth.
Are YOU a scribe?
Does your heart lead you to diligently study the Word of God?
If so, God has treasures for you!
Treasures such as assurance.
Assurance is probably best described by Job sitting in the dust,
covered with sores, and saying,
"I know that my redeemer liveth" (Job 19:25);
or "Though He slay me, yet I will trust in Him" (Job 13:15).
Job brought out the "old" by being assured himself!
And Job brought out the "new" by teaching it to his friends!
ACCEPT Jesus' challenge!
BE a SCRIBE!
And don't forget to SHARE what you STORE!
