THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

My first church was a bivocational position, and I taught business courses in a high school.
During the summers, I attended college, working on my masters degree.

In one of the advanced psychology courses, the professor had just finished a lengthy lecture on mental health.
He asked, "What would you call a person who screams at the top of their lungs one moment, then sits crying uncontrollably the next?"

Without hesitation I said, "A pastor?"

Actually in more than 24 years of pastoring, I can honestly say I never felt such stress as described in the above joke.
Jesus has always been my Helper and Sustainer.

Being burdened with anxious care may all too quickly lead to acts of sin!
Our Lord teaches us to commit our concerns to Him, and He will deliver us.
And, when there is a lasting burden, He will "sustain" us.

Anxiety, for the Christian, actually forsakes the "Fatherly" care of our Lord.
All too often, we depend upon human wisdom rather than Divine intervention!

Let me interject a couple of other Scriptures which address surrendering our burdens to our Lord.

Isa 26:3
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
KJV

Phil 4:6-7
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
KJV

In times of stress, surrender your burdens to the Lord!

Love ya,
Bruce
