THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
Back in the late 1950’s, a lady was stopped on the side of the road
with a flat tire.
My dad stopped to help, though he did not know the lady.
He changed the tire in the summer sun, sweating profusely.
The lady asked his name, and he gave her his card.
Later, he received a nice letter of gratitude from the lady’s husband,
who was a U.S. Congressman.
A few years later, Dad wrote that congressmen, and he gave me
a scholarship grant to attend college!
1 Sam 7:12
Then Samuel took a stone, and set it between Mizpeh and Shen,
and called the name of it Ebenezer, saying,
Hitherto hath the LORD helped us.
Light from the Word.
“Hitherto,” or up until now, “hath the LORD helped us.”
The word “hitherto” also has a meaning of perpetuity.
Christian, were it not for the Lord, we wouldn’t have come this far.
Were it not for the Lord, how far could we go?
Samuel “set a stone” as a reminder that the LORD had helped Israel.
That stone was a testimony to the fact that the Lord is our helper.
Have you set that stone in your life?
Are you giving testimony to the fact that the Lord is your helper?
Who have you helped in return?
You can help someone come to know Jesus as Lord and Savior.
Then, they can set a stone and be a living testimony that
the Lord is our helper.
