DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

To be IN Christ is to be OF Christ,
AND to be SENT FOR Christ's sake.

John 17:13-18
13 And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world,
that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.
14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because
they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that
thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them
into the world.

Light from the WORD.

When Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemane the night before His
crucifixion, He prayed for you and me.

Jesus' prayer was that the disciples be filled with HIS "joy!"
(vs 13)
They were certainly facing a very difficult time of persecution and some,
even death.
But, when He was resurrected and ascended, they would be so filled
with His "joy," they would be able to ENDURE!

Jesus had given them the "word" from God. (vs 14)
That "word" included Scriptural proof that HE, and He alone, is Messiah.

His prayer (vs 15) included the knowledge that the "word" would KEEP
them from sanctified, even in the evils of man's persecution.
They would be cast down, beaten, beheaded, crucified upside down; but,
they would NEVER lose faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior!

And that was because they were no longer "of the world," they were
of JESUS! (vs 16)
This is what KEEPS us as Christians today!
We are not "of the world,"we are of the "WORD!"

God "sanctifies" us through His Word, because His
Word is TRUTH (vs 17).
A Christian in constant association with the Bible, is constantly being
sanctified by God's Holy Spirit.
As we read and study, His Holy Spirit convicts us of sin, calls us to repentance,
and continues to make us able and useful vessels for God's glory!

Now, we are TAUGHT, SANCTIFIED, KEPT and SENT!
Never lose sight of the fact that YOU, Christian, are
God's AMBASSADOR to others!

Love ya!
