THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
Recently, a man finally got enough money together to purchase one of those new fully electric automobiles.
He went to the dealer, and, after making the deal, asked, "When will the automobile be delivered?"
The dealer said, "In 5 years from now."
The man asked, "Morning or Afternoon?"
The dealer said, "Morning or Afternoon? What does it matter?"
The man said, "Well, that's the day the plumber is coming in the morning!"
Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:
There are many things I miss about pastoring a church.
One of those things is entering the sanctuary on Monday mornings to pray.
The sweet smells of perfume and after shave linger from the Sunday worship times.
Inside the walls of the sanctuary there is the aroma of cleanliness.
But, oh how I long to experience the aroma of cleanliness in our people OUTSIDE the walls of the sanctuary!
Sadly, the church which is intended to be the showcase of God's glory in the world, has developed a plumbing problem!
Too often the integrity of those called Christians is impugned by the sewage of the world:
gambling, abortion, adultery, drunkenness, abuse, profanity, divorce.
These sins are too often committed among members in good standing of respected local churches.
Recently, I was traveling to Alexandria, La. and listening to a Christian radio station.
In less than an hour, there were two advertisements by an attorney on that station.
He was advertising his expertise in obtaining DIVORCES.
I wondered if people listening to that station had become COMFORTABLE with hearing that advertisement on a Christian radio station!
The spirit of tolerance has too often triumphed over the spirit of truth in members of churches today.
And too many Christians exhibit marriage to the world instead of exhibiting marriage to Christ.
Let me call upon Christians to be standards of holiness.
Holiness is nothing more or less than living for the purposes of God according to His written instructions.
H umble yourselves before God.
O pen your hearts to His leadership.
L earn of His will by studying the Bible.
I ntegrate His Word into your actions.
N ever bypass prayer.
E xhibit tenderness and care.
S erve Jesus in the church, and
S erve Jesus in the world.
Exhibit a testimony for Jesus,
not a tolerance for the world.
