THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
One elderly man said, "I can't go to church much anymore, my parents won't let me;
Mother Nature and Father Time."
One lady said, "I can't hardly hold anything anymore with these hands.
I can hardly see, and don't hear too well. But I'm thankful to the Lord that I can still drive my car!"
They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;
Most of us older folk don’t have a problem with that “fat and flourishing” aspect of the verse above!
Sometimes though, older Christians can’t make it to church every Sunday.
Getting older sure ain’t for sissies!
But older people can still be productive!
They can still “bring forth fruit in old age!”
They can pray daily.
They can use the phone and other modern technology to check on absentees.
This conveys concern and compassion to those who have been ill, or are having difficult times.
I love to see older people teaching Sunday School classes.
They have a depth of experience with which to teach Biblical truths.
And it is always encouraging to see older people bringing and sitting with younger folk.
Their diligence to serve our Lord imparts strength of character to younger people.
Thank the “seniors” of your church for being faithful.
They exhibit that God’s grace continues to hold and keep them.
And, that’s a good thing to know and show!
