Today's Devotion:
"THANKSGIVING TEACHING MOMENTS"
Teaching children to count is good, but
teaching what counts is better.
_______SCRIPTURE____________
Prov. 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go:
and when he is old, he will not depart
from it.
KJV
_______THOUGHT______________
The other night we were at a Thanksgiving
dinner party.
There were 10 adults and 11 children.
Parents prepared the plates for the children.
After the children had eaten, they brought
the empty plates to the parents for approval.
After being approved, they were assured of
being able to have dessert later.
Each child, then, emptied the plate into the
trash basket, and went to play until called for
the dessert.
It was a THANKSGIVING TEACHING moment!
Things like getting consent, having manners and
etiquette COUNT.
To TRAIN a child, parents must be CONSISTENT
in teaching.
And, yes, training sometimes requires discipline.
If a child doesn't learn respect of authority at
home, he/she will not have respect for authority
in other places.
Train the child to GROW with good DIRECTION.
I wonder how many times our Lord has given
Christians good DIRECTION, and yet we have
not followed it?
THANKSGIVING is a TEACHING moment!
Teach them to PRAY, and WHY they should pray.
Love ya!
