THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
In the US Army, Sergeant First Class is a congressional promotion.
And the rank of Sergeant First Class cannot be taken away without congressional approval.
In June, 1965, I was in the hospital at Clark AFB in the Philippines.
I had a collapsed lung, and was in a room with a Specialist 7, or Sergeant First Class.
He had been riding “gunner” on a helicopter and was shot by a sniper.
The bullet had gone through his stomach.
He was ambulatory at the time, but was carrying a colostomy bag, and a bladder bag.
He was from South Louisiana, and quite a “character.”
A young private from the Marines came in late one night.
He had been shot in the chest.
Thankfully, the bullet had missed all vital organs, and had gone straight through his body.
But this young man was crying, and complaining about the pain constantly.
The second night, about 2am, the Sgt. First Class, got up from his bed, carrying both his bags.
He walked over to the young man’s bed and said, “QUITCHUR WHINING or I’m gonna WHUP YA!”
Never heard another whine from that guy!
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
When you celebrate your rights of FREEDOM:
to exercise your own RELIGION,
to have FREE SPEECH,
to have FREEDOM OF THE PRESS,
to BEAR ARMS,
THANK A VETERAN!
Hundreds of thousands of American men and women gave their lives to:
"...establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity..."
Today, our United States men and women serve in over 177 countries.
They serve for one reason: "LOVE for their FRIENDS!"
So, when you celebrate your freedoms today, THANK A VETERAN!
Remember the price paid to obtain and maintain our freedoms!
And thank JESUS for the LOVE that inspired their love!
