One evening, Mom was listening to little Jack say his prayers.

He prayed, "Dear Lord, please take care of my daddy and my mommy and my sister and my brother and my doggy and me. Oh, and please take care of Yourself, Lord. If anything happens to You, we're gonna be in a BIG MESS!"

Titus 2:11-14
11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

Years ago, when our children were very small, we lived in Mississippi.
We would travel some weekends back to our home in West Monroe to see our parents.
In both directions we'd have to cross that long bridge over the Mississippi River.

The children were always in the back seat playing or sleeping.
I'd always wait until the bridge was in sight.

At that time, the children would stop what they were doing.
They would sit up anxiously, watch very carefully and be very attentive until we completed the crossing of that bridge!

Hope brings anticipation of the completion of an event.
Hope causes careful watching until the event is completed.
Hope gives a reason for continuing.

Our "hope" in Christ is the anchor for our soul.
As Paul said in verse 13 above, the glorious appearing of our Lord, Jesus is our "blessed hope."

Christmas is about HOPE!
God fulfilled His promise to come into the world and provide salvation for sinners.
His first ADVENT brings hope for His second!
God will fulfill His promise to come again!

Does the promise of His second ADVENT bring anticipation to your soul? (vs 13 above)
Would you be GLAD if He appeared today?

"And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming." (1John 2:28)

Are you sharing with others the REAL REASON for LIFE?
"That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life." (Titus 3:7)

When we celebrate Christmas, it's about a spirtual anchor for our souls -- HOPE!

Love ya!
