During his sermon, the pastor asked, "How many of you are ready to go to heaven?"

Everyone raised their hands except one man in the back.

After the sermon, the pastor asked the man, "Aren't you ready to go to heaven?"

The man said, "Sure. But I thought you were getting a busload up to go NOW!"

John 17:4-5
4 I have glorified thee on the earth:
I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self
with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

All that Jesus did in His earthly life "glorified" God (vs 4).
Now, as He came to "finish" the work (through atoning death), He is completing His mission.

Verse 5, is very dynamic.
Jesus came from God. (See John 8:42)
He was indeed, "....made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,)" (John 1:14).

Jesus returned to God.
Through the death, burial and resurrection of Christ, He was returned to
the intimate "glory" which He had before the world was ever created.
"1 In the beginning was the WORD, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men."
(John 1:1-4)

The Creator became the created.
The invisible God became known by the visible image of Jesus.
The life He lived became the "Light" of men to show us the way out of the darkness of sin
and into God's eternal glory.
The one and ONLY way from here to there is through surrender to Jesus!
John 14:6 says,
... I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

One day (soon I believe) Jesus will return in visible form.
He will take all those who have "received" Him to that eternal glory! (John 1:12)

The bus may come today!
Are you ready for the trip?

Love ya!
