THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

Dr. James McBeth was an excellent business professor.
He was a very big man, but he moved graciously on the football field as a referee.

The first day of his class was always very short, and each class was shorter than the time allotted.

I was especially drawn to his teaching methods because in the first day of class he quoted Matt. 7:7-8:
"7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened."

And he always followed that quote each semester with a statement similar to this:
"If you'll listen in class, read your chapters, and make notes; when test time comes it'll be like a piece of cake!"

Then he would say, "If you don't, then the answers won't be here (pointing to his brain),
and this will have distress (pointing to his heart). Because learning is a door only YOU can open."

Isa 30:20-21
20 And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction,
yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers:
21 And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it,
when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

A "disciple" of Jesus is a willing student.
The door of learning about Him must be opened willingly and purposefully.

The "disciple" of Jesus will also face many times of testing.
Times when he/she will have "the bread of adversity," or "the water of affliction."
Times when he/she will be tempted to turn from the straight path to "the right" or to "the left.

God knows about those "testing" moments.
And, He provides the most excellent teacher!
John 14:26
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name,
he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

KJV

And, if the "disciple" of Jesus will READ the Bible, MEDITATE on the truths there, and
LISTEN to God's Holy Spirit, then his/her "ears shall hear word behind thee, saying, THIS is the way, walk ye in it!"

Remember, the door of learning about Jesus is entry to God's Holy Spirit teaching.
But that door can only be opened by YOU!

Love ya!
