THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Once an employer was encouraging his employee to work on Sunday. The employer said, "Doesn't the Bible say that if the ox falls in the ditch on the Sabbath, you may get him out?"

The employee said, "Yes. But if that ox falls in the ditch every Sabbath, I would either fill the ditch or sell the ox!"

Jer 32:41
Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.

Isn't it wonderful to reflect on God's faithfulness to us as His children?

For myself, I find it hard to believe that God can take any pleasure in me. How often do I gripe and complain? How often am I conscious of sinfulness and unfaithfulness in my life? How often do my fellow-Christians see my faults and failures?

But the Bridegroom continues to "rejoice" over the bride! He does not say He rejoices over them that do good; but rather He rejoices over them TO DO them good! What a wonderful God we have!

Can you imagine God bursting into song for you? The Bible says, "The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing." (Zeph 3:17)

As finite beings, we cannot comprehend the infinite love of God! How can the Holy, Righteous, Perfect God rejoice in an unholy, unrighteous, sinner such as I? But He rejoices over us with JOY! What marvelous love!

And, He not only rejoices in His children, but He promises to "plant them" in His land forever!

Poor, sinful creatures that we are, we are saved by grace and kept by grace! One day, time and circumstances of this world will end. But God's grace has NO END! And in His love and care we will forever be WITH Him! That will not be because of any good we have done, but because He chooses to DO good for us!

Though we cannot comprehend it, let us rejoice in it!
Though it is beyond our explanation, let us proclaim it!

Love ya,
Bruce
