THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

A man was traveling out of State. He came to a small community where he was supposed to find Fairview St, which ran parallel to I-40. He saw a young boy and asked, "Son. Do you know where Fairview St. is?"
"Nope!" was the answer.
"Do you know where I-40 is?"
"Nope!" again was the answer.
"Do you know where the intersection of Willow Creek Rd and Bear Hollow is?"
"Nope!" again.
"Son, you don't know much about your community do you?"
Boy, "Well, I know I ain't LOST!"

Eph 2:8-9
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

One of the most assuring things a Christian can know is that he "ain't LOST!"

The CAUSE of our salvation is God's love for sinful man. The Bible says, "God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God. EVERY ONE of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is NONE that doeth good, no, not one!" (Ps. 53:2-3) Man is inherently sinful. None of us could be saved by and of ourselves, even if we wanted to. But the Bible also says, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)

The CHANNEL of salvation is God's GRACE. The Bible says, in our Scripture for today, "For by GRACE are ye saved....." God is love, and God channels His love by GRACE. Were it not for God's grace (unmerited favor, undeserved goodness), we would not be able to receive God's love, forgiveness and salvation. Grace, if you will, is the pitcher from which God's salvation is poured. God's grace illuminates His love, convicts us of sin and calls us to Christ.

The FACT of salvation is "through faith." When we come to the cross in repentance, denying self, and surrendering to become what God wants, then we have come to the point of grace. And it is there, and there only that we receive faith. Faith cannot be mustered by ourselves. It cannot be earned with works. It is "..the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." This is the FACT of faith.

The POWER of salvation is "through faith." Faith is initiated by and continued through the indwelling Holy Spirit. Upon our surrender to Christ, we are "...sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise." (Eph 1:13) Without Him, we could not learn what God wants in our lives, and we could not have power to DO what God wants (John 14:26, Philippians 2:13). Also, the power of action IN faith helps us "...grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ" (2Peter 3:18), and helps us to mature into useful servants for His glory.

The RESULT of salvation is adoption into the family of God by Jesus Christ forever! "...ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father." (Rom 8:15) Just think of it! Adopted forever, never to be disowned. We might add, that the result of having faith also means Christians are never able to disown our Father and Lord! Now that's some result!

And, for the concluding thought of today, the AGENT of salvation is Christ Jesus.
Jesus OWNED salvation.
Jesus came to earth BY GRACE to offer salvation to all men.
Jesus yields FAITH to those who surrender to Him as Lord.
Jesus seals man in salvation by His Holy Spirit.
And one blessed day, Jesus will come to receive all those justified in His Name, and have lived by FAITH! (Rom. 1:17)

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." (Heb 11:1)

Love ya,
