THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

A loan company sent a letter to one of their borrowers.
“We were surprised to find that you had not sent us a payment.”

The man sent a note back.
“You shouldn’t be surprised, I didn’t send one.”

Luke 5:12-13
12 And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy:
who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
13 And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean.
And immediately the leprosy departed from him.

In the Bible, leprosy is sometimes used as a symbol for sin.
When we appear before our Lord:
covered completely with our sin;
humbly claiming no goodness of our own;
and pleading guilty to all our uncleanness;
THEN we can be made CLEAN!

There is no payment we can make to God for our sin.
Our joy is to know payment has ALREADY been made by Jesus!
“For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.” (Rom. 5:6)

No matter how covered with sin a person is, Jesus is APPROACHABLE!
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
(1John 1:9)

When a sinner faces God, nothing is more dirty than self-righteousness;
and, nothing is more hopeful than true contrition and confession.

Appear before Him today in prayer.
Humbly confess sin, pleading forgiveness by His grace.
THEN, count it DONE!
And, go in His love.

Love ya,
Bruce
