THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
When you love someone,
and want them to know it,
"God commendeth (demonstrated) His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners,
Christ died (on the cross) for us."
In this Christmas season, let us be reminded that God came in the Person of Jesus
"when the fulness of the time was come." (Gal. 4:4)
Incarnate glory physically entered time and earth at the perfect moment.
For His glorious birth must lead to a death caused by the most cruel human instrument ever known - the cross.
In that perfect historical time, "God commendeth (demonstrated) His love toward us,
in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died (on the cross) for us." (Romans 5:8)
He came in an impossible manner, born of a virgin, fulfilling the prophecies:
"And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed;
it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel." (Gen 3:15)
"Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive,
and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel (God with us)." (Isa 7:14)
He came for an improbable reason, to offer forgiveness of sins, and redemption to all mankind -
"To redeem them that were under the law."
"Under the law," we are condemned, for we cannot live up to His perfection.
But God, in Christ, lived up to that perfection and then offered His perfection on the cross
to pay for our imperfection.
He came to offer an inexplicable gift - "the adoption of sons."
How? John 1:12 tells us "..as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God,
even to them that believe on his name:" (John 1:12).
To all who believe Him as Christ and surrender to Him as Lord,
He becomes the adoption writ whereby we are made "sons of GOD!"
"Dear Lord, with each little gift of this season, let us be reminded of Your perfect Gift, given at the perfect time."
