THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

Dad and I were in the back yard with the boxing gloves again.
He was a pretty good teacher.

Dad was a “lefty,” so I took a south-paw stance.
I jabbed him quickly with three rights, and stepped in to deliver a left hook.

He blocked my left hook and delivered one of his own!
Everything went black, and I woke up on the ground!

I learned a valuable lesson that day.

Watch out fer them old men! They’re TUFF!

John 19:16-18
16 Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away.
17 And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:
18 Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.

The most valuable lesson I ever learned was while sitting and thinking about these verses.

If Christ had not suffered the agony of Calvary, I would never have known the depths of His love!

There is no medicine to heal the soul except the tragedy at Calvary!
Upon the rock of the “skull,” is built a hospital for sinners!
And, “whosoever will,” may come for the healing! (Rev. 22:17)

There is no water so sweet as that which pours from “The Rock” of Christ’s side;
pierced by man’s sin!
On that dry hill, a “fountain” was opened, dug by grace and mercy!

There on Golgotha, God paid holy blood for unholy men!
There on Golgotha, God offered the perfect sacrifice for imperfect mankind!

”Oh, the love that drew salvation’s plan!
Oh, the grace that brought it down to man!
Oh, the mighty gulf that God did span
At Calvary!
Mercy there was great, and grace was free;
Pardon there was multiplied to me;
There my burdened soul found liberty
At Calvary!”

There, between two examples of mankind, Jesus offered atonement (at-one-ment) for ALL.
One thief believed, and received.
One refused, and did not believe; therefore, he did not receive.

How about you, my friend.
Have you learned the lesson of God’s love at Calvary?

Love ya!
