THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

Visitors to the zoo were surprised to see a sign "COEXISTENCE" on a fence where there were both lions and lambs.

Someone asked the zookeeper how that was possible. Did he first train the lions?

The zookeeper said, "No, every once in a while, I just add some more sheep."

Christ is not only a King, He is also The Good Shepherd of the sheep (that's us).
His work is "in the majesty of the name of the LORD."
He is King of all the earth (and all creation), yet He tends and cares for the sheep.

All during this life, we are living with the lions (and wolves).
But Jesus PROTECTS His sheep. He is constant in vigilance.
Christian, whatever might happen to you today, just know that it's not as bad as it would be if Christ were not your PROTECTOR!

Sheep have no sense of direction.
They will follow just any old grass, and may never find water on their own.
But Jesus FEEDS the sheep. He leads us to where we can find a secure pasture, and quiet water.
By the way, He leads us to the Bible, to prayer, and to the church. Those are places where we find food, water, and fellowship.

Christ's shepherding is CONTINUAL.
"He SHALL STAND.." is present perfect in verb tense.
It means Jesus is constantly guiding, on watch against predators, feeding and tending His sheep.
His eyes never sleep, His hands never rest: He is contantly Shepherding His people with tender love and care.

Christ the King-Shepherd RULES in Holy love.
He commands and receives obedience. However His rule is in love and His watch-care is filled with the energy of goodness and kindness.
He rules, but His Rulership is filled with compassion.
And we yield in obedience because of His great love.

Finally, Christ the King-Shepherd's rule is ETERNAL.
The ultimate goal of His watch-care, guidance, protection and provision is to lead us to that eternal sheepfold - Heaven.

Ain't God GOOD!?!
Let us work for Him evangelically today, for the night comes in which we shall have no more work in that arena!

Love ya,
Bruce
