THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

Police arrived at the scene to find a man curled up on the ground behind an RV.
The man was violently ill!

There was a gas can and a siphon hose next to the man.
It was obvious that the man had been trying to steal gas!

However, he had made a mistake.
He put the siphon hose down the sewage tank!

Isa 55:7
Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

THOUGHT_________________________________________________________

The "wicked" person, and the "unrighteous" person are basically the same.
They are focused upon their own "way" and their own "thoughts."

However, "The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity."
(Ps 94:11)

Therefore, our Gracious and Loving Lord offers a REMEDY!
The remedy is described as this:
FORSAKE "his way," and "his thoughts;"
and, "RETURN" to trusting in the Lord.

Note that the above describes the way of REPENTANCE.
This is the ONLY way in which God will "have mercy" upon a sinner.
It is the ONLY way in which God will "abundantly pardon" sin and grant forgiveness.

Now, notice how the statement of "The Prodigal Son" conforms to this.
18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,
19 And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.
(Luke 15:18-19)

He arises from "his way," and "his thoughts," returning to his father.
He admits sin.
He surrenders to the Lordship of the father, and asks to be made a SERVANT.

This is the way of REPENTANCE.

Love ya,
Bruce
