My wife, Ann, and I grew up together in the same church.

When we went to the Clerk of Court’s office to get our marriage certificate,
there was only one chair.
I seated Ann in the chair and stood behind her.

The Clerk asked Ann her name, S.S. number, address, date of birth, etc.
Then the Clerk looked at me and asked my name.

Ann had been answering all the questions.
So, she said, “His name is Butch McGee.”

The Clerk looked kinda funny toward me.
I said, “My name is Bruce Donald McGee.”

Ann, turned around in the chair and looked at me.
She said, “WHAAAT?”

The clerk said, “Honey, you’re about to marry him, and you don’t even know his name?”

So, I had to explain to the Clerk that we grew up together, and that all Ann had ever heard was
my nickname “Butch.”

Isa 54:5
For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name;
and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.

Christian friends, when you surrendered to Christ – you became betrothed to “thy Redeemer!”
He is the “Bridegroom” of eternal glory, and you became part of His Holy “Bride!”

All that is you, you gave to Him.
And, all that is He, He gave to you!

He descended from heaven into a manger, exhibiting how God comes to mankind.
He comes in innocent holiness, loving kindness, and with tender care.

He took upon Himself the cross, exhibiting how man must come to God.
We must come in humble submission, dying to self, and surrendering to His Lordship over us.

Though He is your “Maker” (Creator), “the Lord of hosts,” and “The God of the whole earth,”
He is “thy Redeemer!”

All the dignity that is His, He laid on that cross for our salvation!
And, all the prerogatives He owns, He uses now for our defense!

He is the visible image of the invisible God (Heb. 1:3).
Yet, He took upon Himself the “took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.”

(Philippians 2:7-8)

If He did that for us when “we were yet sinners” (Rom. 5:8),
you can only IMAGINE what He is doing for us NOW!!

The “Good Shepherd” is attending His sheep! (John 10:11)
He CONSTANTLY makes “intercession” for us! (Heb. 7:25)
With impeccable and immutable wisdom, He continually “works all things together for good to them that love God;
to them who are the called according to His purpose.”
(Rom. 8:28)

He Who called you is “thy Redeemer!”
He Who saved you is your sanctification and justification.

And it is He Who sustains you even through the final day!

Love ya!
