THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

I was preaching in a church near my home town.
After the service, a lady came out who wore two hearing aids.

She said, “Young man, I couldn’t understand all you said, but I got my plate full.”

I said, “Well, maybe you didn’t miss much.”

She answered, “That’s what they tell me!”

John 2:13-19
13 And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem,
14 And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:
15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables;
16 And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise.
17 And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.
18 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?
19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

THOUGHT____________________________________

When Jesus came to the temple that day, he heard the noises of money changers who were cheating the people.
He heard the sound of dove and sheep sellers who were charging exorbitant prices.
What Jesus heard was CORRUPTION in the "house of the Lord."
They had made God's temple a noisy, filthy, profanity!

Jesus drove the money changers, sheep and dove sellers from the temple. The leaders of the temple stood amazed!
They KNEW they had allowed unsanctioned unholy traffic, but they had no defense for what they had done.
So they did what people often do when caught doing wrong: they turned on the One Who had shown the right!

Those leaders had authority to do what Jesus had done.
They, too, could have cleansed the temple.
But they had not been HEARING what they should have heard.
They had trained their ears to the sounds of the world and not trained their spirits to hear the sounds of the Lord.

Christians, our body is "the temple of the Lord" today.
We are called to be a "holy nation" and to express praises in the world to our Lord Who has saved us from slavery to sin (1Peter 2:9).

Listening to the world brings sorrow.
Listening to Christ brings "life ... more abundantly!" (John 10:10)

Train your spirits to hear the One Who gives LIFE!
He is THE Anointed One, Christ, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Only He can take a dead body and raise it up again!

Train yourself to HEAR Him, and you will have revival in your heart today!

Love ya!
