THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

I think it quite strange that they who laugh at gypsy fortunetellers will take economists seriously.

Matt 13:52
Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.

God's has treasures, that He keeps stored for His children as gifts. Those treasures, Jesus says, are held in store by the Lord for the scribe. A scribe is a devoted student of God's Word. Why did Jesus use that particular word?>br?

During the Hellenistic period, the priests had turned their attention to the paganistic culture and their worship had become corrupted. But the scribes had continued diligently studying the Word of God and had become good teachers of the Truth.

Are you a scribe? Do your devotions lead you to diligently study the Word of God?

If so, be sure that God has treasures for you! Treasures like assurance.

Assurance is probably best describe by Job sitting in the dust, covered with sores, and saying, "I know that my redeemer liveth" (Job 19:25), or "Though He slay me, yet I will trust in Him" (Job 13:15).

Because Job had determinedly been studious in God's Word, he was filled with the treasure of assurance. When circumstances and even his friends sought to shake his faith, job reached deep into his treasure and brought out the strength of assurance. Assurance was an old treasure to Job, but he could teach it new to his friends because they didn't understand it.

Job brought out the old by being assured himself. And Job brought out the new by teaching it to his friends.

May we, as Job, accept the challenge of our Lord to be scribes, and continue diligently in the study of God's Word. And may we use our treasures to teach God's truths as new to those who do not have them.

Love ya,
Bruce
