THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
A pastor was visiting an elderly member.
She said, "Soon, I shall be rocking in the bosom of Moses."
He said, "I'm sorry, but the Bible says that's 'the bosom of Abraham.'"
She said, "At my age, one doesn't care who's bosom it is, as long as they belong to the Lord!"
Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.
On Tuesday of Passover Week, Jesus was teaching.
Some of the Pharisees attended, trying to find something with
which they could charge Him lawfully.
Anyone can see that Jesus has a sense of humor.
Even when He was deriding them severely, He used terms like,
"strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel."
These are terms which present an immediate visual!
Can't you just see a fellow straining at swallowing the "gnat" of truth
while swallowing the whole "camel" of pretentiousness?
You can if you watch Washington, DC!!
(By the way, "strain at a gnat" means to strain the gnat OUT -- perhaps of water.
They were careful to strain the water, preventing them from drinking the larvae of a gnat which was considered "unclean."
The camel was also considered "unclean.")
When a person stands before Jesus, they stand before THE truth!
Jesus had already said, "I am THE way, THE truth, and THE life; no man cometh to the Father but by me."
When one comes face-to-face with truth, there are two choices:
REJECT it, or
Receiving the truth of Jesus:
empowers a person to become one of the "sons of God" (John 1:12),
allows one to be "accepted in the Beloved" (Eph. 1:6, 1John 3:1),
allows one to be "washed," "sanctified," and "justified" (1Cor. 6:11),
allows one to be securely kept and "present(ed)" "faultless" before God (Jude 24).
Jesus IS truth!
Have you RECEIVED Him?
