THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

The beautiful bride was escorted down the aisle.
When she came to the groom, she noticed his best man was holding a golf bag.

She whispered to the groom, "Why are your golf clubs here?"

With his eyes locked on hers, he whispered back, "Well, this isn't going to take all day is it?"

SCRIPTURE_____________________________________________________

Gen 2:22-23
22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

Note that all the animals were made "out of the ground" (Gen. 2:19).
So was Adam (Gen. 2:7).

But the woman was made using a part of the man.
She was created to be his "help-meet" (Gen. 2:18).
She was created to be his counterpart, companion and completion.

Please note at this point:
God made them "Adam" and "Eve," not Adam and Steve!

Adam's acceptance speech in verse 24 lays the foundation for the ONLY
acceptable marital lifestyle: ONE man with ONE woman for one LIFETIME!
Jesus reiterated this statement in Matt. 19:5, and Mark 10:8.

Marriage is a holy institution, for it was first performed by God Himself.
Marriage is a lasting institution for the two become one.
The bonds of marriage are stronger than the bonds of parenthood; for the man and woman leave their parents to become one.

Therefore marriage should not be entered without first having much prayer and consultation with God.

Love ya,
Bruce
