THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
Two little boys got into a fight.
But the next morning Johnny took his cap and headed for Bobby's house again.
Surprised, an older member of the family said teasingly, "What! Going to play with him again? I thought you had a fight last night and was never going to have anything more to do with him? Funny memory you have."
Johnny looked a little sheepish, dug his toe into the carpet for a moment, then flashed a satisfied smile as he hurried away.
"Oh! Bobby and me's good FORGETTERS!"
Behold, for peace I had great bitterness: but thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption:
for thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back
I would like to forget all my sins.
However, they - like haunting nightmares - continually remind me of my guilt!
My "forgetter" is broken, and my "rememberer" works TOO WELL!!
And, all too often, I find myself repeating old sins.
This not only brings guilt, but - like a worm - burrows in and produces bitterness.
Tell me you, Christian, don't feel the same.
Do you sometimes feel like the psalmist?
“My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.”
There are two words in the Bible that bring such tremendous relief to the soul:
Isaiah said "BUT GOD," by His great love has DELIVERED my soul from corruption, and cast all my sins behind His back!!"
When the guilty pains of sin remind us;
when the "worm" of sin burrows in and produces bitterness;
1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins,
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Yes, we are sinners all;
BUT GOD has become our SAVIOR!
