DAILY DEVOTIONS

Today's Devotion:
"The ANNOUNCEMENT Part 1"

All the prophecies of Messiah in the
Old Testament begin to come true in the
announcements which begin the New
Testament.

God is FAITHFUL to deliver His
PROMISES!

_______SCRIPTURE____________

Malachi 3:1
Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall
prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom
ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even
the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in:
behold, he shall come, saith the Lord of hosts.
KJV

Luke 1:17
And he shall go before him in the spirit and power
of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,
and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make
ready a people prepared for the Lord.
KJV

_______THOUGHT______________

From the time of Malachi, chapter 3, until the
statement in Luke 1:17, is over 400 years!
During that time no "voice of the Lord" had been
heard by a prophet!

Two words in Malachi 3:1 are important:
"messenger," and "Lord."
There, messenger, is derived from the Hebrew
mal'ak, which means deputy or ambassador
of God.
The word "Lord" is from the Hebrew Adonay',
which means God.

Now, we see the prophecy coming true in the
announcement to Zacharias, who was a priest.

Zacharias and his wife Elizabeth had no children.
And they were both "well stricken in years." (old)

The angel told Zacharias that Eilizabeth would
have a son.
And, according to the speech of the angel that
son would be the "messenger" to "prepare the
way before me (God)."

This son would be named John (see Luke 1:59-60).
He became known as "John the Baptist."

John prepared "the way" for the "Lord" by constantly
announcing that the Messiah was coming soon!

Years later, John saw Jesus and said, in John 1:29,
"Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the
sins of the world!"

And, in John 1:34, he said, "And I saw, and bare
record that THIS is the SON of GOD!"

God's prophecies ALWAYS come true!!
And, "..the Lord whom ye seek" has come!

Are you seeking Him?

Love ya!
