THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
God doesn’t call the qualified,
But He ALWAYS qualifies the called.
God doesn't want to buy "shares" in your life,
He wants controlling interest!
28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?
29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
30 They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?
31 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.
32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.
33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.
The people wanted to know what they could do that God would approve.
Jesus told them they should "believe on Him Whom He (God) hath sent."
The ONLY "work" a man can do to be saved is surrender in trust to Jesus as Lord!
There is none other!
The only "work" AFTER being saved is that initiated and empowered by God's Holy Spirit indwelling the Christian. (Philippians 2:13)
Jesus is the ONLY One Who came from God, paid the price of sin for all men, then ascended from the grave!
He is the "Bread of God!"
But the people wanted more physical BREAD!
Too often in our lives we focus on the physical and not the spiritual.
They told Jesus that Moses had provided bread, and wanted to know if Jesus would do the same.
They were comparing Jesus to Moses - a prophet.
Jesus reminded them that Moses did NOT give the bread, GOD did!
It was only at Moses' concern for the people that God told Him HE would send the bread and even meat!
((See Exodus 2:2-16)
But the REAL "Bread of God" is Jesus!
Physical bread only relieves physical hunger for awhile.
Jesus relieves spiritual hunger forever! (John 7:38)
This "Bread" (Jesus) is given in order that He can give "life unto the WORLD!"
That "life" is to live and do according to God's "good pleasure." (Philippians 2:13)
That is REAL LIFE!
Are you living REAL LIFE?
