THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
Bob Denver made the character Maynard G. Crebs a very funny
one in the series: The Many Loves Of Dobie Gillis.
He played a beatnik opposite the clean cut Dwayne Hickman
(Dobie Gillis), and had some really good "punch" lines.
Anytime (in the series) someone approached the subject of work,
Maynard (Bob) would shudder and say: "Wher uh rk?"
1 Cor 15:58
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable,
always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye
know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
Light from the Word.
The word "work" is translated from the Greek ergon,
and means labor, or exertion.
The word "labour" is translated from the Greek kopos,
and literally means toil, or weariness.
What IS the Christian's "work of the Lord?"
Those are the five areas of the Christian's "work of the Lord!"
God is not an "errand boy"!
We should WORK in prayer to praise Him, and plead for HIS
will to be done in our lives.
The stronger our prayer life, the stronger our spirit.
BIBLE STUDY --
The Bible is God's revelation of Himself to the Christian.
In it He reveals His love for us, His character, His rules of
conduct, and our role in His plan.
The more you LEARN, the more you GROW in a relationship
Both formal worship (in church) and personal worship
are essential parts of the Christian's life.
No, it's not always easy; sometimes it's WORK, LABOR!
Getting along with others requires WORK!
Anybody knows relationships become strained.
The WORK is KEEPING the relationship!
Sharing the Gospel of Christ with others.
We do that by exemplification, and by verbal testimony.
It's not easy -- it's WORK!
One thing we should always remember about our "work of the Lord:"
That "labour is NOT in vain!"
For God will bless our WORK with REST!
Are you “stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work
of the Lord?”
