Today's Devotion:
"Be READY for the GOTCHAS of life"
HI!
I was out playing a practice round for golf.
When the first 9 was finished, I went to the
clubhouse for some water.
We had a new young pro there, and he
asked if he could play along with me.
I told him it would be an honor, but that he
would have to allow me 2 "gotchas."
In order to show me that he understood,
he said, "OK, that'll be fine."
We played the first hole.
Then on the 2nd tee, I was standing
behind him as he prepared to hit the ball.
He took his stance, and began his
backswing, and just as he began the
downswing, I stretched out my club and
"goosed" him in the back.
He watched me very CLOSELY after
that, making sure I wasn't behind him!
_______SCRIPTURE____________
1 Peter 5:8-9
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary
the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking
whom he may devour:
9 Whom resist stedfast in the
faith, knowing that the same afflictions are
accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
KJV
_______THOUGHT______________
Christians, we are still weak, frail, and easily
side-tracked, or caught off-guard.
We need to be DILIGENT in our lives.
Remember, you signed up to be a SOLDIER
in the army of God.
We must think of life as a constant battle with
the adversary.
Be sober – alert, awake, not drunken on or
with the wines or niceties of this world.
Be vigilant – on guard, watchful, not lax
concerning the care of your character.
Resist – fight the good fight of faith;
remain active in the things of God.
Be Stedfast – relying totally upon our Lord,
utilizing the resources of faith:
prayer, Bible study, Christian fellowship.
Our only means of being STRONG is to employ
CLOSENESS with our Lord and remain
ACTIVE in His work!
Be READY for the GOTCHAS of life!
Love ya!
