Today's Devotion:
"The LEAST is GREATER"
HI!
The term "kingdom of God" is a reference to
Daniel 2:44 which was a prophetic statement
about GOD coming and setting up a kingdom
which could NEVER be destroyed!!
Jesus came to fulfill that prophecy!
_______SCRIPTURE____________
Luke 7:28
28 For I say unto you, Among those that are born of
women there is not a greater prophet than John the
Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is
greater than he.
_______THOUGHT______________
The REASON people went out to see John the
Baptist is because he was a real PROPHET.
And, the land had not seen a real prophet of God
for over 400 years.
Jesus said John the Baptist was THE prophet of
whom God had spoken in Is. 40:3, which says:
"The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness,
Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in
the desert a highway for our God."
Jesus went on to say there was no "greater prophet
than John the Baptist."
But here is the TRUTH Jesus was teaching to those
people, and to us today: "..he that is least in the
kingdom of God is greater than he" !
(greater than John the Baptist).
Using the term "kingdom of God" was one way of
pointing people's attention to the fact that JESUS
is the MESSIAH Who came to establish that kingdom!
John the Baptist was the MESSENGER of that
kingdom, as were all prophets who had come
before him.
However NONE of those prophets were able to see
the consummation of that kingdom!
The "kingdom of God" is ESTABLISHED in Jesus!
The "kingdom of God" is SPIRITUAL not PHYSICAL!
And, the LEAST of those who surrender to Jesus
after His preaching, death, burial and resurrection
are GREATER because the kingdom of God is
IN them!
What a great truth is established.
Your testimony of being saved by repentance
and surrender to Christ is GREATER than all
the prophecies before it!
Christians, USE your testimony!
For, "...how shall they hear without a preacher?"
(Rom. 10:14)
Love ya!
