The most important thing about judgment day is
to be READY!

Joel 1:13-15
13 Gird yourselves, and lament, ye priests: howl, ye ministers of the altar:
come, lie all night in sackcloth, ye ministers of my God: for the meat offering
and the drink offering is withholden from the house of your God.
14 Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the
inhabitants of the land into the house of the LORD your God, and cry unto the LORD,
15 Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as a destruction from
the Almighty shall it come.

Through the prophet Joel, God made a call for repentance.
This was an urgent call, for "the day of the LORD" was "at hand!"

Note the priests are to dress in "sackcloth." (verse 13)
Dressing in sackcloth showed a state of mourning.
They are called upon to "lie all night" praying and pleading with God.

Two things are requested for the people to do (verse 14): "fast," and
"solemn assembly."

Fasting is to deprive oneself of worldly food in order to draw closer to God.
This is something Christians seldom practice today, but should practice more.
When one is deprived of food, the belly begins to growl.
Each time the growling occurs, one is reminded to pray.

The "solemn assembly" means to come before the Lord earnestly, sincerely,
and in full repentance.
It is also a call for ALL PEOPLE ("elders" and public officials alike) to come and
participate in seeking the Lord.

The REASON for this solemn fasting and repentance is because the
"day of the Lord is at hand" (verse 15).
"At hand" means NEARBY!

My friends, no one knows when the final day will come.
And, no one knows when he/she may die and stand before Christ in judgment.

The time to approach God in repentance is NOW!!

God has made the call!
Have you answered?

Love ya!
