THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

"We make a living by what we get.
We make a life by what we GIVE."
(Winston Churchill, quoted in USA Today (11-10-00), p. 3 B)

SCRIPTURE_______________________

1 Cor 15:45-49
45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul;
the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural;
and afterward that which is spiritual.
47 The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the
Lord from heaven.
48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy:
and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also
bear the image of the heavenly.

THOUGHT_______________________

LIGHT from the WORD.

The prevailing thought in this passage is that of precursors:
one who comes and indicates the activities of another.

The "first Adam" was a precursor of sin and death,
or separation from God.
The "last Adam," Jesus, came to be the precursor of
eternal life with God.

The first Adam was given "breath of life" from God in
a body of clay.

Being given "breath of life," Adam was created
"a living soul" to exist for eternity with God.
However, when he willfully sinned, he brought "death"
upon himself, and all those of his descendents:
Because, "the wages of sin is death..." (Rom. 6:23)

But, PRAISE GOD; even before creation of the first Adam,
God had a plan of redemption!

The last Adam was the first Christmas "gift!"
Because, the "gift of God is eternal life through Jesus
Christ our Lord!"
(Rom. 3:23)
Jesus came to be the Precursor of holiness, righteousness,
and sinlessness.
When we surrender to Jesus as "our LORD," then
we receive the "gift of God (which) is eternal life!"

As descendants of the
"first Adam,"
we have all "borne the image of the earthy."
We are sinners in need of redemption!

But when we surrender to Jesus as "our Lord,"
then we "shall also bear the image of the heavenly."
You see, Jesus is a "quickening spirit."
He is the "gift of God" Who puts "breath of life"
back into the soul dead from sin!

Praise God today for His eternal plan of redemption!
Praise God for the first Christmas "gift,"
WHO was promised to the first Adam and Eve in Gen. 3:15!

Love ya!
