I remember when I was running track at 18 years of age.
We were practicing 100yd dashes.

The coach said, "Focus on the FINISH LINE!"

Today, at 72, my eyes can still focus on the finish line,
but my body says, "Are you KIDDING?!"

Heb 12:1-2
1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great
a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin
which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the
race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who
for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising
the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Light from the Word.

Yesterday, the devotion was about climbing the mountain of faith.
That mountain takes a LIFETIME of climbing!

Today, let's talk about the RACE of life.

It's not a physical race.
It's a spiritual race!

A track runner lays aside all heavy things, and runs without
We must run the spiritual race of life laying aside those things
that can "beset" us....or hinder us.

We must run the race without allowing sins to become obstructions
in our spiritual path.

We must lay aside spiritual obstructions such as:
pride, lethargy, prejudice, and above all apathy.

Then, we must keep our eyes focused on the GOAL!
"Looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith!"

Like John the Baptist said,

Let Jesus become more and more IN you, and THROUGH you!

Love ya!
