"The VINE and the Branches"
When I was a boy, we used to walk through
the woods behind our house.
We'd find a muscadine vine, which grew rather
large grape-like fruit.
The skin was tough, and large seeds were in the
middle.
But the fruit was very sweet tasting.
Grandma used to make jelly from those
muscadines.
This type of vine was truly good for the forest -
it brought FRUIT.
We also found OTHER vines that did not
have fruit.
We cut them down because they would just
ruin the trees in the forest.

5 I am the vine, you are the branches.
He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears
much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is
cast out as a branch and is withered; and they
gather them and throw them into the fire, and
they are burned.

King Duncan tells a story about a small
church that was pastored by Dr. Fred
Craddock.
Dr. Craddock told the church they needed to
visit in the county.
Many new people were moving there because
there was a large government program.
The next Sunday night, the membership of the
church voted to not accept members in the
church unless they had property in the county.
Years later Dr. Craddock revisited in the
community.
Where the church stood, was now a BBG
restaurant!
The church had become a branch that did
NOT "abide" in the Lord's will.
And, it was no more.
Don't let your church become a fruitless
vine!
