None have been prepared as Jesus was.
None have stayed as He stayed.
None have paid what He paid.
None have commissioned as He commissioned.
19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it,
and gave unto them, saying,This is my body which is
given for you: this do in remembrance of me.
20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying,
This cup is the new testament in my blood,
which is shed for you.
As thou hast sent me into the world,
even so have I also sent them into the world.
LIGHT from the WORD.
Thursday of Passion Week: PREPARATION day!
Jesus was prepared to pay the awful cost of our salvation.
As Messiah, Christ - He was committed to being our need!
He, being God in flesh, paid Holy blood for unholy men.
Though He could have called 10,000 angels -
He stayed to face the cross.
His heart was prepared!
For He had said, "Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say?
Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto
this hour. Father, glorify thy name." (John 12:27-28)
Yes, Jesus was PREPARED!
But now it was time to prepare the disciples!
The Matzah, the "bread" cakes in the Seder, represented:
affliction, freedom, and anticipation.
It was a symbol of Messiah fulfilling ALL for those who love Him.
What the disciples DIDN'T realize about that bread was:
Jesus IS "the bread of life!" (John 6:35)
The "cup" represented redemption.
It had for centuries shown the redemption of the Jews from Egypt.
But, what the disciples DIDN'T realize was,
that cup also was a symbol of the redemption God would pay
in His OWN BLOOD!
( Isaiah 43:11, Jeremiah 31:31-33)
After supper, they went to the Mount of Olives.
There, Jesus prayed.
John 17 records that prayer.
In that prayer, Jesus pleads for ALL who come surrendering to
Him as Lord.
And, He states, "As thou hast sent me into the world, even
so have I also sent them into the world." (John 17:18) above.
Jesus was preparing for THOSE disciples to make OTHER disciples!
Later, THEY would have to prepare THEMSELVES!
They would have to study, pray, and be READY to face
derision, defamation, and even death to share the Gospel!!
Are YOU, my friend, PREPARING yourself?
That preparation begins with the COMMITMENT to surrender to
Jesus Christ as Lord of your life!
THEN, and ONLY then, those who are surrendered are
COMMISSIONED to be “ambassadors for Christ.” (2Cor. 5:20)
THEN, we must prepare OURSELVES through
daily prayer for spiritual strength,
daily Bible study for wisdom,
and daily SHARING the Gospel with others!
Be PREPARED by PREPARING!
