THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
Once, on his TV show, Jack Benny told a cute joke.
The audience responded with applause.
Jack said, "I don't think I deserve that; but then,
I have arthritis, and I don't think I deserve that either."
12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet
to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and
hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even
the forgiveness of sins:
Light from the Word.
Oh! Let us give "thanks unto the Father!"
He has enjoined us to an "inheritance" of eternal light!
He has "delivered" us from the "darkness" of sin and death!
He has "translated" us into the "kingdom of His dear Son!"
He has done this by "redemption through His blood!"
ONLY through Christ's blood do we have "forgiveness of sins!"
To the surrendered sinner, Christ's blood is:
REDEEMING – we are purchased out of the slavery to sin;
CLEANSING – His blood washes away all our sin;
PRESERVING – we are sealed “unto the day of redemption”;
SANCTIFYING – we receive a new nature to follow Jesus.
And, His blood is UNDERSERVED!
None of us own anything of value to God, except our worship.
And the ONLY way we can receive His atoning precious blood is:
through humble surrender to His Lordship.
