THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
A cowboy came into the insurance office and wanted to purchase a life insurance policy.
The agent asked all the normal questions: address, date of birth, etc.
Then he asked, "Have you ever had an accident?"
The cowboy said, "No. I've been bitten by a rattlesnake and kicked by a bull."
Agent, "And you don't think those are accidents?"
Cowboy, "Nope. Them critters did it on purpose!"
1 Peter 1:22-23
22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
Christians are "purified."
They have been "born again" by "obeying the truth through the Spirit."
They have willingly surrendered to Jesus, and have asked to be made "a new creature" in Christ.
The "new creature" is born of "incorruptible" seed.
It neither dies, nor is decaying!
That seed is "the Word of God, which liveth and abideth forever."
The very nature of Christ's "seed" in us causes growth and production of fruit!
One fruit of this new birth is having "unfeigned love of the brethren."
Truly regenerated Christians have non-prejudicial, non-hypocritical love for one another.
Since we have been born by the Word of God, let us also live by the word of God.
May our love for one another be always genuine, "unfeigned."
And may we love one another “on purpose!”
