THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
The lawyer was visiting with a very successful and quite rich farmer.
Lawyer, “Sir, why don’t you hold your head up. You should look up to no man.”
Farmer, “Ah, sir, God has taught me a great lesson on the farm.
Do you see the field of wheat?”
Farmer, “Notice there are some heads on the wheat standing up tall and proud?”
Farmer, “Well, those are EMPTY! The full ones bow low.”
2 Chron 12:14
And he did evil, because he prepared not his heart to seek the LORD.
2Chronicles, chapter 12, tells of king Rehoboam who
“.. forsook the law of the LORD, and all Israel with him.” (2Chron 12:1)
Because of this “transgression,” the king of Egypt came and captured
many of the cities in Judah, then came into Jerusalem.
When the king of Egypt came to Jerusalem , he “took away the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house; he took all: he carried away also the shields of gold which Solomon had made.” (2Chron 12:9)
Rehoboam, and his kingdom were unpreserved because he was unprepared!
All it takes to do “evil” is to NOT prepare the heart to seek God!
Rehoboam's reign was fraught with wars and turmoil, and only lasted 17 years.
The three kings before him had reigned 40 years each!
He was unpreserved, because he was unprepared!
Jesus said, “For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west;
so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” (Matt. 24:27)
When Jesus comes, it will be “quick as a flash,” “faster than lightning,” “in the twinkle of an eye!”
Are you PREPARED?
