In 1958, the year Van Cliburn won the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow,
a gaunt 6'1", 19-year-old Chinese pianist named Liu Shih-kun came in second.

Young Liu became one of China's top concert performers until 1966,
when the country was shaken by the Cultural Revolution.
Western music was totally banned and along with thousands of other artists
and intellectuals Liu was sent to prison, where he languished for 6 years without a piano.

Yet, 6 months after being in that prison, he was back on tour!
When asked how, he said, though he had no piano, he played every
piece he knew over and over in is head every day.

He used what he knew in his mind to encourage his heart.

Eph 3:14-16
14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory,
to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;

My Christian friend, life is NOT fair!
Often we experience misery - especially in our hearts.
And, we need encouragement.

Use what you know in your mind to encourage your heart.

Remember WHOSE you are!
You belong to Christ, Who IS “life”; and desires that you have life
"more abundantly." (John 1:4, John 10:10)
This does not necessarily imply material riches, but shows that
Christ wants you to have the JOY of life.

Learn who you are in Him!
In Christ, you are:
"washed," "sanctified," and "justified" (1Cor. 6:11),
"sealed" in His Holy Spirit (Eph. 1:13),
"written in the Lamb's book of life" (Rev. 21:27),
"a royal priesthood" (1Pet. 2:9),
an "ambassador" for Christ (2Cor. 5:20),
with "the ministry of reconciliation" (2Cor. 5:18),
and - much, much more!

Though you are "strangers and pilgrims" (1Pet. 2:11) in this world,
your citizenship is already in heaven BY Christ, WITH Christ, and
FOR His Glory!

Learn who you are in Him.
Then, use what you know in your mind to encourage your heart!

Love ya!
