THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
Two secretaries were talking about their work.
"I hate filing," said one. "No matter how careful I am, I can never find the papers I'm looking for. I forget where I have filed them."
"I used to have that problem too, but no more," her blonde friend said. "Now I make 26 copies of everything I type and file one under each letter of the alphabet. That way, I can't miss it!"
2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any
should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
We memorize things: social security numbers, driver's license numbers, phone numbers, rhymes, senseless riddles, jokes.
We memorize things: it's just part of the things we DO.
Our brains are similar to a computer filing system.
We actually do have memory of everything we have ever seen, tasted, heard, felt or smelled.
Our problem is putting each file in systematic order so it is easily retrieved.
Why not remember a five-point sermon that uses a plan of salvation?
File it in your mind under: LEADING SOMEONE TO CHRIST.
Then, you will be able to retrieve it instantly.
Then USE it, telling people about Jesus.
ANY Christian can do it!
I. God's PERSONALITY
He is "not slack" like men.
He is loving and wants ALL mankind to have the privilege of being saved.
II. God's PROMISE
ANYONE can be saved.
No matter what you've been, or done.
III. God's PATIENCE
God is "longsuffering."
He is patiently waiting, through the sinfulness of men, to receive those who will come.
(2Peter 3:9 above)
IV. God's PROVISION
God demonstrated His love for mankind through Jesus.
And God's provision for salvation is in Jesus ALONE!
V. God's PLAN
God's perfect plan is to save men from the end results of sin.
(Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23)
God's plan includes:
REPENTANCE: Turn from self to Jesus (Mark 1:15)
CONFESSION (Romans 10:9-10)
COMMITMENT (Luke 9:23)
Memorize the sermon AND the verses.
File that information in your brain under: LEADING SOMEONE TO CHRIST.
Then, retrieve it anytime you want to tell others of Jesus.
Today is the last day of 2012.
Today MAY be the last day you have a chance to lead someone else to Jesus.
Praise God for the memories of 2012.
Then, USE them for His glory.
