An elephant was bathing in the lake, splashing water
and having a good time.
A mouse approached and sat on the bank.
He looked disturbed.

The elephant asked, "What's the matter?"
The mouse said angrily, "Come out of the water at once!"
The elephant asked, "Why?"
The mouse in his squeaky voice, yelled, "COME OUT AT ONCE!"

The elephant realized if he were to get any peace,
he would have to come out.
So he lumbered up on the bank.
Then he asked,
"Why did you disturb my bathing, and get me to come out?"

The mouse said, "Well, somebody stole my bathing suit,
and I wanted to see if it were you!"

The Prophecy
Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given:
and the government shall be upon his shoulder:
and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor,
The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

The Fulfillment
Luke 2:11
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour,
which is Christ the Lord.

LIGHT from the WORD.

It is easier to understand how an elephant could wear a mouse's bathing
suit than for us to understand the awesome mystery of the incarnation.

Pause to think a moment concerning the statement "Christ the Lord."
Christ is the translation of the Greek Christos meaning
THE anointed of God, Messiah.
Lord is the translation of the Greek kurios meaning
Supreme in authority, Master of all.

Remember the prophecy from Isaiah.

Eternity inhabited temporal flesh.
Holy majesty was exemplified in an innocent child.
The King of kings born, son of woman.
The Creator came as part of the created.
Omnipotent omniscience was laid in a manger.
The true "LIGHT" of life was wrapped in swaddling clothes.

He truly wore your suit!

He is WONDERFUL because He loves us, even though we are sinners.
(See Rom. 5:8)
He is COUNSELOR, and can always help you make decisions.
(See 1Tim. 1:17)
He is THE MIGHTY GOD, Who spoke and the universe came into being.
(See John 1:1-3)
Who came as a child to show us the true way of life.
(See Micah 5:2 and John 1:14)
He is the PRINCE OF PEACE, and can give you peace even in trouble.
(See Philippians 4:6-7)
He is CHRIST THE LORD, the Messiah prophesied of old,
THE “present” of God. (SeeIs 43:11 and Lk 2:11)

And, He wants to be your SAVIOR,
bringing His eternal presence to your heart. (See John 14:26)

THAT's the meaning of CHRISTmas!

Love ya!
