Today's Devotion:
"WALK in the LIGHT"
Darkness cannot drive out darkness;
only light can do that.
Hate cannot drive out hate;
only love can do that.
(Martin Luther King, Jr.)
_______SCRIPTURE____________
1John 2:9-11
9 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth
his brother, is in darkness even until now.
10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light,
and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
11 But he that hateth his brother is in darkness,
and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither
he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his
eyes.
KJV
_______THOUGHT______________
A person entering a dark room without turning on
the light may do injury to himself.
A person walking in despite of his friend or
"brother" is doing injury to himself.
God's command is to "love our neighbor as
ourselves." (Lev. 19:18)
Jesus came to bring light to living.
That light is UNDERSTANDING!
Jesus turned on the light of understanding when
He said,
"29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the
commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our
God is one Lord:
30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all
thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind,
and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love
thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other
commandment greater than these." (Mark 12:29-31)
The person who says he is a Christian is not to
hate his brother.
A man I was visiting told me that some people in
the church had hurt his feelings and he would NEVER
go back there.
Well, Jesus had His feelings hurt too, from the very
kin of His family!
But, "...as His custom was, he went to the synagogue
on the sabbath day..." (Luke 4:16)
We will never be RIGHT
until we walk in Jesus' LIGHT!
Love ya!
