THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

Once a toastmaster introduced Thomas A. Edison at a dinner.
The toastmaster spoke long about Edison's many inventions, particularly about the "talking machine."

When Edison finally arose, he said, "I thank the gentleman for his kind remarks. But I must insist upon a correction.
God invented the "talking machine," I only made the first one someone can SHUT OFF!"

Matt 13:1-9
1 The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side.
2 And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.
3 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;
4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:
5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:
6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.
7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:
8 But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
9 Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

THOUGHT____________________________________

One of the most impressive parts of Jesus' ministry was how he attracted crowds.
They came in MULTITUDES.
He preached to 5, 10 and even 15,000!

We don't need gimmicks to attract crowds.
We don't even need a good preacher.

L
In this parable Jesus showed that He LOVED unbelievers.
He didn't condemn, He just showed the truth.
He cared enough to show that a receptive heart is necessary to be saved.
Perhaps one of the greatest "crowd gatherers" is to show love for others.

People don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care.

A
Jesus taught that ACCEPTANCE of others is necessary.
Acceptance is not a feeling, it is a behavior.
Behavior is taught by the Bible, but it must be caught by unbelievers.
God teaches us to show His love by accepting others.

I
In the parable, Jesus INFORMED the people through a heavenly story with an earthly meaning.
Jesus HAS eternal life, and He is willing to GIVE it.
In the parable, He made eternal life desirable and catchable.
As Christians, our goal should be to inform people that Christ HAS eternal life and is willing to GIVE it.

T
Jesus TAUGHT how seed, properly received in the ground can burst open and produce a plant, which in turn will produce much fruit.
If God visits the seed and causes this transforming production, can He not visit any person's heart and do the same?

Y
Then Jesus YOKED people to Him by saying, "Who hath ears to hear, let him hear."
Jesus was saying, "if you really hear the truth of the statement, then exemplify it in your life."

Now, look above at the letters preceding the paragraphs.
It spells L A I T Y!

And THAT'S what it takes to attract crowds for Jesus!

Love ya!
