THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

A Sunday School teacher was explaining about the angels going into Sodom and Gomorrha to rescue Lot & his family.
Then she read from the Bible, "And the angel said, 'Take your wife and daughters and flee.'
But Lot's wife looked back and turned into a pillar of salt."

One little boy raised his hand with a question. He asked, "What happened to the flea?"

Mark 8:22-26
22 And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.
23 And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.
24 And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.
25 After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.
26 And he sent him away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town.

THOUGHT____________________________________

John Greenleaf Whittier once said, "The steps of faith fall on the seeming void, but find the Rock beneath."

Faith believes the incredible, receives the impossible, and sees the invisible. (Heb. 11:1)

However,
Faith needs illumination from God; and,
Faith needs cultivation and encouragement so that it may grow.

Faith ends in sight.

People must be led to Jesus for illumination.
Notice the phrase in the above Scripture, "they bring....& besought Him..." (Vs 22).
They brought the man to Jesus and asked Jesus to give him sight.
Faith comes from Christ and one cannot receive it unless and until one comes to Christ. (Rom. 10:17, John 14:6, Heb. 11:6)

Jesus began the work, and the man could see dimly (vs 24).
Faith comes in degrees.
Upon our surrender to Christ we first receive a "mustard seed" of faith, which grows with cultivation.
That's what Jesus was demonstrating with this man.
Faith is like a living plant inside when God gives it to us.
We must be constantly cultivating the plant with studying and praying, and God gives light for the plant to grow through our personal relationship with Him. (Rom. 1:17)

The reward of faith is sight.
Jesus Himself completed that work for the man above (vs 25).
And, He will complete that work for anyone who comes genuinely surrendering to Him!

First, we receive sight sufficient to see life more clearly and our purpose in life.
Then we begin telling others in our own home.
As faith grows inside us, then we can proceed to tell others.

Paul said, "For now we see through a glass darkly, but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known." (1Cor. 13:12)
The ultimate reward of faith is to see Christ in glory and remain with Him forever.
It is then that our "mud" will turn ABSOLUTELY CLEAR!

Keeping those things in mind:
“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called,
and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.”

(1 Tim 6:12)

Love ya!
