THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
Recently, I had to have that “annual physical.”
I went in one week had had several blood tests.
They did an EKG, and some x-rays.
Next week I saw the doctor.
He said I was in “pretty good” shape.
That brought a little concern, and I couldn't help but ask:
“Ya reckon I'll make it to 80?”
He asked, “Do you drink or smoke?”
I answered, “No.”
He asked, “Do you eat many rich deserts?”
I answered, “No. I like them, but don't eat much of them.”
He asked, “Do you eat a lot of steak and ribs?”
I answered, “No. I try to stay away from the fat and carbohydrates.”
He asked, “Do you 'go out' a lot?”
I answered, “No. That is not in my lifestyle.”
He asked, “Then, why do you care if you live to 80?”
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
THAT'S why I want to live to 80! (Or, even MORE, if the Lord allows it!)
I want to be ABLE to present praise to my Lord as long as He keeps me here on this earth.
A Christian is a “made over” human being!
He/she is a “new creation” through surrender to Christ (2Cor. 5:17).
He/she is radically changed – mentally, emotionally, and behaviorally.
A Christian is the “workmanship” of God!
He/she is being “worked on” daily by God's loving grace to bring us to maturity in faith.
A Christian is “born again” to DO “good works.”
Those are works to which God CALLS the Christian for involvement.
Works like: prayer, Bible study, church attendance, and evangelism.
Before you were even born, Christian, God had that plan for His “made over” people!
Yes, Christians are READY to die.
They know what comes next is eternal bliss.
But that doesn't mean they WANT to die.
Christians want what God wants in their lives.
Is THAT the reason YOU are living?
