THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

I remember, many years ago, when I was managing a Safeway Grocery store, and we lost electricity.
We had "cranks" for the checkout machines, and could still care for the customers.

The other day, I was in a grocery store and the electricity went off.
Everyone just stood around.

It seems, nowadays, we are slaves to the machines!

Gal 4:4-5
4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son,
made of a woman, made under the law,
5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

THOUGHT____________________________________

When Adam and Eve sinned, they lost the current that connected mankind to God.
They, and all mankind procreated after them, became slaves to the darkness of sin!

No matter how good we are, we are still slaves to the darkness of sin!
Isaiah says, "...we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses
are as filthy rags.."
before God! (Isa 64:6)

We MAKE ourselves slaves -- it's our inherited nature from Adam and Eve.

We, mankind, are in NEED of a SAVIOR!
JESUS is that Savior!!

He came to pay the redemption price that would purchase us out of slavery to sin!
He came to "redeem them that were under the law..." - convicted sinners!

He died to "...sanctify the people with his own blood..." (Heb 13:12)

And, now we (ALL mankind) have the opportunity to "receive the adoption of sons" to God!
John's Gospel says, "as many as received Him (Jesus), to them gave He power
to become the sons of God.."
(John 1:12)

THIS is the story of Christmas!
God came in the Person of Jesus "to redeem them" who stand convicted before Him!

To RECEIVE that redemption, and to be adopted into God's family, we must only surrender to Jesus as Lord.

THEN, we are no longer slaves to the darkness of sin, but servants of God!

Have you received the most important gift of CHRISTmas?

Love ya!
