For every true believer, there comes a time (or times) when his faith
is tested by conditions which surround him.

Psalm 74
3 Lift up thy feet unto the perpetual desolations; even all that the
enemy hath done wickedly in the sanctuary.
4 Thine enemies roar in the midst of thy congregations;
they set up their ensigns for signs.
5 A man was famous according as he had lifted up axes
upon the thick trees.
6 But now they break down the carved work thereof at once
with axes and hammers.
7 They have cast fire into thy sanctuary, they have defiled by
casting down the dwelling place of thy name to the ground.
8 They said in their hearts, Let us destroy them together:
they have burned up all the synagogues of God in the land.
9 We see not our signs: there is no more any prophet:
neither is there among us any that knoweth how long.
10 O God, how long shall the adversary reproach?
shall the enemy blaspheme thy name for ever?
11 Why withdrawest thou thy hand, even thy right hand?
pluck it out of thy bosom.

It's as if the psalmist cries out:
"Lord, just LOOK at what's happening!! (verse 3)
Enemies have taken over! (verse 4)
They have destroyed the beautiful work of our faith (verse 7),
they have defiled the churches in our land (verse 8),
and we no longer hear from YOU (verse 9).
How long will You allow this to go on, Lord? (verse 10)
Why have you withdrawn your presence and protection (verse 11)?"

I remember when I was 12 years of age.
That was the year my mother died.
My sweet Aunt Elsie held me close when she told me that Mother had died.
I asked through my tears, "Why did God let Mom die?"

Aunt Elsie spoke words of faith which have been a source of strength to me
since that day.

She said, "God has not left you honey. He loves you, and is still with you.
God has a reason for everything He does. Maybe we don't understand it today,
but we'll understand it later. TRUST Him!"

Simple words of faith!
But I cannot tell you how many times, as a pastor, I have held someone
who just lost a loved one, and found myself repeating those very same words!

Psalm 74:12
For God is my King of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth.

God is still working!
Just look around!

Love ya!
