A student at the university had forgotten to write a paper
for the psychology class.
He rushed to the library, found an article in a magazine on
his assigned subject, and copied the article.

When the paper came back from the professor,
it was marked, "EXCELLENT PAPER ---- F."

The student approached the professor after class and asked,
"Why did you say it was an excellent paper,
but you gave me an F?"

The professor smiled and said, "If you had read the 'byline'
on that magazine article you copied, you would have noticed
that I'm the one that wrote it!"

Matt 16:13-18
13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi,
he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I
the Son of man am?
14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist:
some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
15 He saith unto them, But whom say YE that I am?
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ,
the Son of the living God.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou,
Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto
thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon THIS
rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail
against it.

LIGHT from the WORD.

From the Scripture above, one cannot help but notice the call
to Christ is a call to a personal public profession of faith in Him.

Jesus already knew what other people said,
but He asked "...whom say ye that I am?"
Peter's answer reflects a personal conviction of Jesus as
the Christ (see verse 16).
That answer, Jesus said, came because God, the Father,
had revealed the truth to Peter (verse 17).

It was upon this personal public profession of Jesus as Christ
that the church would be built (verse 18).
The name Peter means "small, placeable stone."
But the word ROCK, in the same verse, means
"huge mass of rock."

The church is built upon only one Person—Jesus!
The church is built upon the “rock” of personal public profession
of Jesus as Christ and Lord of our lives.
The open avowal of Jesus as the Living Son of God,
THE Christ, and Lord of our lives is the SOLID ROCK,br> upon which His church is built!

The call to salvation is a call to have a personal,
intimate relationship with Christ.
That call also means acknowledging Jesus publicly as Lord
and becoming WHAT He wants, and serving WHERE He wants.

True faith dares the soul to go beyond what the eyes see!

Whom say YE that Jesus is?

Love ya!
