DAILY DEVOTIONS

Today's Devotion:
"Wisdon Justified"

There was once another lady who married a man
named John.
Her parents had not wanted her to marry him.

The next Sunday, the minister preached from
Matthew 11:18 at the bride's request:
"For John came neither eating nor drinking,
and they say, He hath a devil."

That particular "John" was John ADAMS, by
the way, who became the 2nd President of the
United States!

_______SCRIPTURE____________

Matt 11:16-19
16 But whereunto shall I liken this generation?
It is like unto children sitting in the markets,
and calling unto their fellows,
17 And saying, We have piped unto you, and
ye have not danced; we have mourned unto
you, and ye have not lamented.
18 For John came neither eating nor drinking,
and they say, He hath a devil.
19 The Son of man came eating and drinking,
and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a
winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners.
But wisdom is justified of her children.

_______THOUGHT______________

The people who were around when John the
Baptist preached didn't profit from His preaching
very much.
Most of them still maintained that superior "air,"
and wanted to make it to heaven with good works.

During John's ministry, Jesus came on the scene.
Not many people profited from His ministry either.
A few believed He was Messiah, but others just
wanted him to end up like John the Baptist!

Jesus said those people were like children.
Someone said, "Let's play wedding."
And everyone said, "NO!"
Then someone said, "Let's play funeral."
But again, everyone said, "NO!"

They didn't want to play unless they could be the
LEADER of the playing.
But Jesus said the wisdom of salvation is
exhibited by those who RECEIVE it!

As "children" of Christ, we don't work to BE saved.
We work for joy because we ARE saved!

We, as Christians, must EXHIBIT in our lives
the fact that salvation is the wisdom of God
through His love for us.

Love ya!
